History

  1. 1992 Coupon karbovanets enter circulation in January and become Ukraine’s sole legal tender in November.
  2. 1996 A reform between 2 and 16 September introduces the hryvnia at one hryvnia for 100,000 karbovanets.
  3. 2022 On 24 February the central bank fixes the exchange rate at 29.2549 hryvnias per US dollar under martial law, then resets it to 36.5686 on 21 July.
